Facetime Theatre’s 2024 Season Production Proposal Notice

Facetime Theatre is now taking submissions from directors for our 2024 Season!  Below you will find guidelines to direct a MainStage show in our next season.

Please fill out the this form to submit: Facetime Theatre’s 2024 Season Submission Form

The deadline for submissions is March 20, 2023, after which the Artistic Committee will meet and discuss all of the options. If we are unable to produce a show submitted to us, we will discuss some outside options and present them to those who submitted a proposal to see if they are interested in directing a show other than what they originally submitted.  The committee will recommend selected shows to the Board of Director for approval.  Prospective directors may be asked to meet with the Artistic Committee or Board of Directors.

Note:  You Must be vaccinated to participate in a Mainstage show, whether on stage or behind the scenes.

Mainstage Season General Goals:

  • To appeal to a diverse pool of local performers
  • To open up opportunities to as many actors as possible, without affecting the integrity of the show
  • To be efficiently and creatively produced in our theatre
  • To appeal to a community of patrons diverse in age, race, gender, and ethnicities

Casting and Rehearsals

Scheduled auditions are held for every production, usually for two nights plus a callback night.  We do NOT permit pre-casting.  The Artistic Director, or a member of the Artistic Committee will assist in the scheduling and organization of auditions, as well as sit in and assist with the casting process.

Rehearsals typically run 3-4 days a week depending on the needs of the show, the director’s preference, and the class and rehearsal schedule for other shows being rehearsed, and will begin 10-12 weeks prior to tech week.

Script and Royalty

  • Facetime Theatre will be responsible for securing rights for proposed productions
  • Royalty costs are not included in the budget guidelines below
  • Any changes made to the script must be outlined in the proposal and approved by the Artistic Director and the Artistic Committee (as well as possibly the licensing company)
  • Directors are responsible for making sure that all copyright laws are followed for their respective production.  This includes copying and digital publication of materials and use of the logo.

Budget

Not including royalties, our musical budget tends to be between $10,000-15,000; the play budget between $5,000-7,000.  The Artistic Director and/or Production Manager will work together with the director to solidify a budget that works for the show and the theatre.

Production Team

For musical submissions, Facetime Theatre requires that you secure a musical director before submitting your proposal and are welcome to build your production team as you see fit, but all production team members will need to be approved by the Artistic Director and Artistic Committee.  We will also be happy to assist the director in the building of the production team.  We offer small stipends for certain production team members.  Our actors are not paid.
