Summer Programming
Facetime Theatre offers three different types of summer camp programming for students. Summer Stage Kids – a 2-week camp experience for students entering 1st through 5th grade, that is modeled after our Summer Stage program, but at a more elementary level. Summer Stage – a 3-week summer-camp experience culminating in the performance of a full-length Broadway musical. Open to students entering 6th grade through college-age. We have limited space available in our brand-new "crew" program here at Summer Stage! This program will allow theater-loving kids who may prefer to be backstage to learn the variety of behind-the-scenes skills it takes to put on a great show!
Crew campers will:
- Have a stage crew position on the Summer Stage show
- Be included in camp theater games and activities
- Learn from the production team about the arts of stage management, set design, prop design, costume design, lighting design, and more
- Work with our designers and Summer Stage interns on various set and prop construction projects for the show
- Assist in the organization and management of costume, set, and prop pieces
- Assist the stage manager intern in the tracking of set/scene transitions
- Be present at all tech rehearsals to learn backstage tracks, preset the stage, move set and prop pieces, and/or assist in costume changes
Spots are available based on order of registration and age/needs of the program.
Age groups/cost:
Entering grade 8 = $350
Entering grades 9-10 = $285
Entering grades 11-12 = $190
Summer Stage Crew members are asked to start attending camp in the second week of the program, from 9am-12pm each camp day. Beginning on the Saturday of tech, they are required at all tech and camp dates.
Summer Stage Audition Preparation:
Group Session: May 8th from 4pm-7pm ($85)
In this audition prep workshop, students will be provided with options/ideas for audition songs/materials, including individualized recommendations based on experience, voice part, and what role(s) they are auditioning for. Instructors will educate students on audition basics and etiquette, share tips on how to shake off nerves and leave a good impression, how to properly warm-up and prepare, tips for cold readings from the script, and learn what not to do in an audition. There will be a “mock dance audition" where students can learn techniques on how to pick up choreo quickly and feel confident in a dance audition. Students will leave having an understanding of what an audition experience is like, what is required of them, and with confidence in their chosen materials and their ability to nail their next audition.
Individual Coaching Sessions: May 10th between 3pm-6pm (20 minutes of private instruction) ($20 per 20-minutes)
After some time at home to practice their chosen materials, students may return for private coaching sessions. Here we will refine their song and acting choices and hold a "mock vocal audition". Students will then receive final feedback and tips for their audition. If a student did not attend the workshop and just wants to sign up for private coaching, please come with a song already selected and learned, or sign up for 2 slots if you need help selecting/learning a song. Once you register, we will let you know what individual coaching time slot you have been assigned.
